I Wrote this Guide Years Ago

https://www.tripadvisor.co.nz/ShowTopic-g28964-i75-k13260483-Dallas_Texas_Guide-Texas.html

I am from McKinney Texas, so I am going to Help Everyone understand the DART. I had Never Ridden it much my whole Life until the last few Years, so I want to Help Everyone who doesn't know anything about it.

First, GET THE APP, the GO PASS APP, this will make Everything much more Simple.

Now, the Train is the Easiest way to get around, and You can Pretty Quickly Learn the Areas around the Train Stations, though it could be Dangerous, so know where the Blue Poles are at the Stations that You use to Call Police. Stand Near them, etc. Put "See Something, Say Something" in Your Phone, and know that there are People Eyeballing this and that, so don't be too Flashy, You can wear Jerseys and look like You are having Fun, but Random People are Committing Random Crimes. Random People Starting Fights, sometimes like "That's not Your Phone, that's my Phone" which is like a Twilightzone Thing that can Happen with any Possession You Own, Borrowing Phones because they are Homeless or getting out of Jail, and then there are Screwdrivers and Knives, and Metal Bars, and Bats, and Other Blunt Objects of a Cudgel Nature. Machetes even, but usually those Stories come from Homeless Camps. Just be Careful on the Train, but it is the Easiest to kind of get on and get off, not Spend a lot of Time, have Your Ticket on Your Phone, etc.

So then there is the Bus, and I'll just Talk about the Bus and the Go Link at the same Time. The Go Link Replaces some Buses, so it is not Bad to Learn this. So, with a DART Ticket on Your Phone on the Go Pass App, You can Ride the Bus and the Train, and the Go Link, the 1 Ticket does all 3. So in the Go Pass App, You can get a Denton "A Train" Ticket, and that is like the DART for Denton, Passing Through Old Town, and Lewisville, etc. The A Train is a whole Other Ticket, and You Catch the Train at the Trinity Mills DART Station, and it goes on to Other Cities. This is also how You get TRE Tickets to go to Forth Worth. But the Go Link is like a Taxi that You can Ride with the DART Ticket. I Write about this because the more People use all of this, the more Funding they get, and the more they can Cover, and this Helps Everyone even if I don't need it anymore. But what the Go Link does is allows You to go from Walnut Hill or Forest Lane, maybe a few Other Stations there, and Ride to any Specific Location You Chose within a Region. You can use the Go Pass "Trip Planner" to see if Your Destination is in this Area, and You can Start Saving Money by not using Uber. And that gets us to the Uber Part, these Trips sometimes Call You an Uber when You Schedule them in the App or on the Phone by Calling DART, and an Uber will come Pick You up, and for all of Go Link it is just the Price of a DART Ticket (use the App so You can Schedule the Trips in the App, Otherwise You Call and give them Your Ticket Number). This is also available at many Other Locations like Parker Road, Buckner and Rowlett, but not Everywhere which does become Inconvenient, but it is very Helpful where it is, and the more People use it the more they can Fund this Project. There is a kind of "Competitor" Called "Star Transportation" and they go to Balch Springs and Places outside of Dallas that DART does not go to. And Really there, that is all they need, but in Dallas and Plano I think a lot of People could Benefit from this.

Then the Bus.

The Bus can be Very Useful, but You want to Find a Hub like Arapaho Center Station, or West End (there is Parking though at Arapaho, not at West End), there are some not Attached to the Train Stations, but those can be more Convenient, but there always are Hubs to Park at which have no Train and You can get on a Bus, Right now there are Buses that will be Replaced by the Cotton Rail, or the Silver Rail, and there are Hubs. Addison Transit Center could be called one, but no Parking Lot again, so the Better example is NW Plano Park & Ride.

All of these are on Wikipedia now also:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas_Area_Rapid_Transit

It's jut like Learning any Map, and this Helps You just get Places Cheaper, or without having to Park in a Crowded Area, etc. And then there are People that will want to Learn all of this because they don't have the Option to Drive, and this can Help Everyone. Anyone who wants to Post information about Different Areas around DART can do so in this Thread.

One Thing that Uber has Talked about with Dallas is the Pegasus, and Flying Cars, Uber already is Prepared to Release Flying Cars in Dallas that Never Touch the Ground, and Only Fly from Rooftop to Rooftop, Probably by Drone. And if this were to Happen, being Part of something like DART would be Step 1. The Go Link is maybe the Toe in the Water for Flying Cars, if we can all just Show Uber and DART what we need from them.

I'm going to add this because most People have no Idea that these Things exist, or how to use them. First, Star Transportation, if You get on one of their Routes You just have to Pay $1 each Ride, so $2 for a 2 way Trip. They also have on-Call Services, but the way this Works is they will go to Stations the Go Link doesn't go to. So if You do not have Go Link Services near You, look for the Star Transportation Routes.

You can Buy a Ticket for Star Transportation in the same DART Go Pass App by Switching the Agency in the Buy Tab. The Options in Tickets are "Fixed Route" and "StarNow" which is the Taxi Type Service where You will get picked up in Your Chosen (within the Limits) Spot, and will Drop You Off where You Chose instead of being like the Bus. This Service, Star Transportation goes to DeSoto, Balch Springs, Hutchins, Mesquite, Rockwall County and Kaufman County. Collin County has a similar Service called MUTD. MUTD goes to Celina, Lowry Crossing, McKinney, Melissa, Princeton and Prosper.

Then the more Well Known would be the Trinity Metro, the TRE that goes between Dallas and Ft. Worth. The Cheapest one is Zipzone, which is not Clearly defined is says "Some Mercantile Areas" so it probably Works for going between Stations, or just a few Stops, that is $1 (Single Ride, no Reboarding) and the next Ticket up is $2.50 for a Ride to CentrePort which is about the Middle of the Rail (Single Ride, no Reboarding), the Last of the Cheap Tickets is $3 for a "Zipzone" Zipzone Single Ride, which I guess gives You full Zipzone access (Single Ride, no Reboarding). The Daypass for these is $5.00 and You can go in these Zones all Day, Reboarding allowed. The Regional Day Pass to get to Ft. Worth, or Ft. Worth and Back, is $12.00
